Our story started in 2017, when Cooper gave Nick a tour of McGovern Medical School. Nick had just come from Texas A&M, and Cooper was a proud UT Austin graduate. Neither of us knew it at the time, but that tour would eventually lead to medical school, residency, fellowship, and a whole lot of time together in and around the same hospital.
Our first date was a walk around Rice University. Nick showed up wearing two completely different colored socks, which was objectively strange but somehow also adorable. Cooper decided to give him a chance anyway, and the rest is history. Since then, we've spent an unreasonable amount of time together and have managed to make each other laugh through long days, long nights, and the general misery that comes with medical training.
In between studying, operating, and being at the hospital way too much, we've managed to have some fun along the way. We've loved traveling together, especially to the parts of the country that have casinos! And now, after what feels like most of our lives being spent in school, residency, fellowship, and hospitals, we're finally ready for the next chapter.
Nick is finishing his fifth year of surgical residency, Cooper is finally an attending, and we're both looking forward to a life that involves significantly fewer exams, evaluations, and 5 a.m. alarms. We're excited to be done with training, start our lives together, and see what comes next—with hopefully a little more travel, a few more casinos, and plenty of reasons to keep laughing along the way.
Most importantly, we're excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of the people who have been a part of our lives along the way. We can't wait to have everyone together as we finally make it official!
